I just came across a cool trailer for a movie premiering at Sundance called Phoebe in Wonderland. I don’t know if it struck me because I’m the parent of a young girl now, but it seems to me that it is making good use of the Wonderland story – something that I feel has only been done properly in modern pop-culture as allusion, like The Matrix. As far as recreations and such, there was that one that had Whoopi Goldberg as the Cheshire Cat – I mean, you know they were gonna have problems with that one. How strange is it that such a totally convoluted story has only been properly put to the screen by Disney? Maybe it’s not surprising at all.
