Because I just can’t leave you guys hanging, I’ve dug up a trailer for one of my “Great Expectations Movies” for this year, Neil Marshall’s Centurion. From what I’m seeing here, I’m thinking it will incorporate the best elements of Dog Soldiers and The Descent: the bond between warriors, and the crippling fear of an unknown menace lurking in the darkness. Marshall’s had plenty of time to hone his craft, and with Michael Fassbender in tow, I think Marshall will finally have a shot at breaking through to the mainstream.
Centurion wanders into theatres April 23, 2010.

Nice find! I really love Neil Marshall. And Michael Fassbender. As long as there’s no Dooms Day in this, I’ll be happy.
All the ingredients are there, that’s for sure. I like that Dominic West is on board too – so weird that only the select few who watched The Wire know what he’s really capable of.
I liked Doomsday – not often that you get fast cars and knights on horseback in the same film – maybe Army of Darkness. As a genre-bender, it had the goods – a mashup of Escape from New York, Mad Max, Apocalypse Now and maybe Day of the Dead or Children of Men.
