So, who was Queen of Summertime?

We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to answer our summertime poll of who they thought would come out top dog in this summer’s quest for theatrical supremacy. I’ve put together a bit of a hodge-podge of information to try to create a picture of how we all thought things would play out and what the reality of it all was. I’ve included the votes offered up in the poll, the Rotten Tomatoes aggregated review number and the total accumulated box office to the week of August 31st.

Queen of Summertime

Judging by how this chart lays itself out, we were pretty close to the mark if we’re to include all aspects of what might constitute a film’s greatness. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen clearly stands above the rest as far as box office, but you’d have to struggle to find a worse reviewed movie this past year, so it cant really claim the throne. In number 2 spot for total box office we have Up, which was actually added to the survey as an “other” entry with one vote, with the highest of all the tomatometer ratings. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you your Queen of Summertime: Up!

Up, this summer's top dog, brought to you by the guys who just bought Marvel comics.

Coming in with the most votes is Star Trek, which is now the highest grossing Star Trek film ever, and perhaps the best reviewed Star Trek movie of all time. Looking at how this all played out, I suppose it was an oversight on my part to leave Up off the actual list altogether, but regardless, we’d like to thank everyone again for joining in and are looking forward to our poll.
